FRANKY HERNANDEZ WINS INDIVIDUAL AWARDS AT PAN AMERICAN CUP

Morelos.- Franky Hernández Milantony, a student at the UAS Faculty of Physical Education, was named the best spiker and best server at the Pan American Volleyball Cup for seniors held in Cuernavaca, Morelos.

Hernández Milantony, originally from Guasave, Sinaloa, was part of the Mexican national team that secured fourth place in this event, which brought together teams from North, Central America, and the Caribbean. It serves as a way to earn points and, above all, gain experience for the pre-World Championship tournament in Canada later this year, which offers spots for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

"In the first game, we played against Curaçao. The second was also a victory against Guatemala. We beat the Dominican Republic. Then, a loss against Cuba, we lost in the semifinals vs. the United States, and for the bronze, another loss against Canada."

"Despite not winning a medal collectively, it serves as preparation to play against teams like the United States and Canada, who are very tall, well-structured, and have world experience since they play in the Nations League," declared the national team player.

Returning to Franky Hernández's individual achievements, he was the only member of the Mexican national team to be honored with individual awards; not just one, but two distinctions: best attacker and best server. The rest of the awards were mostly taken by Americans and Canadians.

Franky Hernández Milantony was a double medalist at the 2026 ANUIES national championships with the UAS Eagles under the guidance of Ulises Ontiveros. For 4 years, he has been one of the best indoor volleyball players in the history of the UAS Eagles.
