Vinny Castilla, MLB Legend, to Attend Cancún Week 2026
One of the most extraordinary Mexican hitters of all time will be present at Baseball United: Cancún Week 2026. Vinicio “Vinny” Castilla, a historic player from Oaxaca, will be part of the event that will bring together great international baseball legends from November 4-7 in Cancún, Quintana Roo.
Castilla built a 16-season career in Major League Baseball, playing for the Atlanta Braves, Colorado Rockies, Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Houston Astros, Washington Nationals, and San Diego Padres. However, it was with Colorado where he wrote his most memorable chapters, becoming one of the most feared hitters in the National League.
His statistics speak for themselves: 320 home runs, 1,105 RBIs, 1,884 hits, and a .276 batting average. His most spectacular season came in 1998, when he hit 46 home runs, drove in 144 runs, and batted .319, demonstrating the offensive power that made him a benchmark for Mexican baseball.
Among his greatest accolades are two All-Star selections, three Silver Slugger Awards, and leading the National League in RBIs in 2004 with 131. Additionally, he represented Mexico in the 2006 World Baseball Classic, leaving a legacy that paved the way for new generations of Mexican players.
At this event, Tropheo will be the official scoring partner, recording statistics and every play in real-time, as well as allowing fans to participate in the selection of the Most Valuable Player (MVP). Vinny Castilla's arrival in Cancún, where his presence represents much more than a gathering of stars: it is a recognition of a Mexican who conquered Major League Baseball through talent, discipline, and power at the plate.
