By Juan Samuel Santana Chávez
Erling Braut Haaland is one of the most prominent strikers in world football. He was born on July 21, 2000, in Leeds, England, while his father, Alf-Inge Haaland, was playing for Leeds United in the Premier League. Although born on English soil, he represents Norway, the country to which he returned with his family at the age of three. He is the son of former footballer Alf-Inge Haaland, who also played for Nottingham Forest and Manchester City, and former athlete Gry Marita Braut, a heptathlon specialist.
Haaland began his professional career with Bryne FK before moving to Molde FK, where he started to gain attention for his goal-scoring ability. In 2019, he was signed by Austria's Red Bull Salzburg, a club with which he shone in the UEFA Champions League. He later joined Borussia Dortmund, where he confirmed his status as one of Europe's top attackers, and in 2022, he was signed by Manchester City. With the English club, he established himself as one of international football's biggest stars thanks to his physical power, speed, and clinical finishing.
Among Haaland's main achievements are winning the Premier League, FA Cup, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and Club World Cup with Manchester City, as well as two Austrian Bundesliga titles and an Austrian Cup with Red Bull Salzburg. On an individual level, he has received accolades such as the Golden Boy 2020, the Gerd Müller Trophy, and the Premier League Golden Boot, in addition to becoming Norway's all-time leading scorer at just 25 years old, solidifying his place as one of the most decisive footballers of his generation.
