Mistico Defeats Averno, Wins Hair in CMLL's 93rd Anniversary Show
Místico once again wrote an important chapter in the history of the Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) by defeating Averno in the main event of the 93rd Anniversary show, held this Friday, September 18th, at Arena México. The match began as an Incredible Couples Quadrangular with a "Suicide" Final, where Místico and Averno teamed up with three other duos: Templario and Último Guerrero, Star Jr. and Zandokan Jr., and Dragón Rojo Jr. alongside Bárbaro Cavernario. After the eliminations, Místico and Averno faced each other to decide the mask vs. hair stipulation.
The confrontation was marked by Averno's roughness and Místico's resilience, who even suffered a hard impact outside the ring during one of his aerial maneuvers. The technical wrestler also ended up with his mask damaged, but he managed to recover and take the match to its conclusion. With experience and utilizing his aerial skills, the so-called King of Silver and Gold managed to submit his historic rival with La Mística, his signature hold, to secure the victory and keep his mask, while Averno lost his hair to the fans gathered in the "Mexico Cathedral."
The triumph represented another significant trophy for Místico, who had previously won the masks of Black Warrior and Histeria, as well as Negro Casas' hair. The 93rd Anniversary show featured nine matches and brought together stars from CMLL, AEW, and STARDOM; among the notable results were Soberano Jr.'s victory over Bandido via pinfall and Andrade's win over Volador Jr., also by pinfall. For Andrade, the bout marked his return to Arena México after 13 years to face Volador Jr. again.
