MEXICO WINS CARIBBEAN SERIES KIDS 2026 IN NAYARIT
Nayarit was the epicenter of a final that will be etched in the memory of youth baseball. Mexico Verde, represented by the Nayarit Jaguars, conquered the 2026 Caribbean Series Kids by defeating the Dominican Republic 11-8 in a tense, power-packed duel that saw a comeback change the destiny of the championship in a couple of pitches.
The home team had a high-impact day, first winning a close semifinal 4-3 against Panama, a result that opened their path to the championship game. In the grand final, the situation turned adverse in the sixth and final inning, when they were trailing 8-6 with two outs on the scoreboard.
In that scenario, the decisive reaction appeared: Jesús Alejandro Solís hit a two-run homer that tied the score 8-8, completely igniting the Mexican response. Immediately after, Jesús Oviel Berrelleza Bernal continued the offensive explosion with another solo homer, achieving a consecutive attack that put Mexico Verde ahead 9-8 in a matter of pitches.
Far from settling, the Jaguars extended their lead with two more runs in the same inning, sealing a five-run rally that ultimately tipped the scales. The Mexican pitching responded in the closing moments of the game, highlighting the performance of Ian Espinosa, who dominated without allowing any damage in his relief appearance and was key to confidently securing the victory in the final innings. With this, the final score was 11-8, breaking a dominant 18-game winning streak that the Dominican Republic had maintained in the tournament.
Mexico writes one of the most intense chapters of the tournament: a comeback from the brink of elimination, two consecutive home runs at the most critical moment, and a final defensive stand that secured a historic championship for Mexican youth baseball. With this achievement, the country not only breaks barriers in the tournament but also positions itself as a developing powerhouse in Caribbean baseball.
