Mexicans Osmar Olvera and Randal Willars Among Candidates for World Aquatics Award
Mexican divers Osmar Olvera and Randal Willars have been included by World Aquatics among the candidates for the 2026 Male Diver of the Year award, following a season in which both achieved significant results in international competitions. The national representatives will compete for the award against China's Zheng Jiuyuan, Wang Zongyuan, and Bai Yuming.
Olvera earns this nomination after winning three gold medals at the 2026 Santo Domingo Central American and Caribbean Games, where he triumphed in the individual one-meter and three-meter springboard events, as well as the synchronized three-meter event. For his part, Willars secured two gold medals at the regional competition, both in the 10-meter platform, in both individual and synchronized modalities.
The Mexicans also stood out at the World Cup Super Final, where Olvera won silver in the synchronized three-meter springboard and bronze in the individual event, while Willars took silver in the individual platform and bronze in synchronized; both also shared a silver medal in mixed teams. The voting to choose the winner is being conducted through World Aquatics' official Instagram account and will remain open until Friday, October 9.
