Japhet Amador has closed a 12-year chapter with the Charros de Jalisco and will no longer be part of the organization heading into the 2026-2027 Mexican Pacific League (LMP) season. The 39-year-old first baseman arrived in Guadalajara in 2014 from the Guasave franchise and became the only player to have participated in all of the club's seasons since its incorporation into the winter circuit. His departure marks the end of one of the longest tenures in the recent history of the Jalisco team.

The player known as the “Giant of Mulegé” leaves as the most winning player in Charros history, with four LMP championships: 2018-2019, 2021-2022, 2024-2025, and 2025-2026. Individually, he also won two LMP Most Valuable Player awards, corresponding to the 2015-2016 and 2023-2024 seasons. His professional career also includes notable stints with the Diablos Rojos del México and experience in the minor leagues with the Houston Astros; MLB also records accolades such as Mexican League Rookie of the Year in 2009 and six appearances in LMB All-Star Games.

The Charros' decision is due to sporting reasons: manager Benjamín Gil did not include Amador in the list of players invited to preseason, while the front office stated that his participation had diminished over the last two campaigns due to his age. Luis Alberto González, the organization's general manager, informed that the player is free to negotiate with any other LMP franchise and announced that Charros is preparing a tribute for a figure who was a fundamental part of their main achievements. In the summer of 2026, Amador played for the Piratas de Campeche, where he recorded 31 games, 64 at-bats, 16 hits, five RBIs, and a .250 batting average.
