ISAAC DEL TORO RECEIVES MILLION-EURO PRIZE AFTER HIS HISTORIC 2026 TOUR DE FRANCE
Isaac del Toro concluded a historic performance at the 2026 Tour de France by finishing in third place in the general classification and winning the white jersey, an award given to the best young cyclist in the competition. Thanks to these results, the 22-year-old Mexican earned 120,000 euros in official prize money, consisting of 100,000 euros for third place and an additional 20,000 euros for winning the youth classification.
In addition to the prize money for his final results, Del Toro earned extra income during the competition. The UAE Team Emirates-XRG cyclist received 11,000 euros for winning the second stage of the Tour and approximately 1,800 euros for wearing the white jersey for six days. In total, his identifiable prize money amounts to 132,800 euros, equivalent to about 2.64 million pesos, although this amount is usually added to a common pot that is later distributed among riders and team staff.
The outstanding performance by the rider from Ensenada also made history in Mexican cycling. Isaac del Toro became the first Mexican to reach the podium in the Tour de France general classification, surpassing Raúl Alcalá's previous best result, in addition to winning the white jersey in his debut in the French race. His performance solidifies him as one of the leading figures in international cycling and one of the great promises of Mexican sports.
