Culiacán, Sinaloa.- Sinaloan talent will be present at a new international para taekwondo competition, after Culiacán natives Suisei Koyama and Juan Diego García were called up to join the Mexican delegation participating in the Muju World Para Taekwondo Grand Prix Series 2026 in South Korea. The event will take place from September 4th to 7th in the city of Muju, where both athletes will seek to gain experience and achieve important results in their athletic development.

Suisei Koyama arrives at this international event as an athlete with experience in national and world competitions, in addition to having participated in Parapan American Games. Among her recent achievements is the silver medal won at the Turkish Open in February 2025. For his part, Juan Diego García has an extensive international career and is a double Paralympic medalist*, having won gold in Tokyo 2020 and bronze in Paris 2024; after the Paris Games, he underwent surgery and went through a recovery period before returning to competitive activity.

The Mexican team will consist of six athletes, including Koyama and García, as well as Claudia Romero, Luis Mario Nájera, Fernanda Vargas, and Iván Torres, under the direction of coaches Janet Alegría and María del Rosario Espinoza. The Grand Prix will bring together approximately 70 competitors from over 20 countries, making it a high-level competition within the new Paralympic cycle and an important opportunity for the Sinaloans to continue consolidating themselves on the international stage.
