Dorados Returns to Sinaloa and Announces New Coach
Dorados de Sinaloa has made their schedule official for the Liga de Expansión MX Apertura 2026 Tournament, a competition in which they will debut on July 30th as visitors against Alebrijes de Oaxaca. The Sinaloan squad will continue to play their home games at the Estadio El Encanto in Mazatlán, after leaving Culiacán, due to an order from the Mexican Football Federation (FMF) in response to the wave of violence the city is experiencing. In this way, El Gran Pez will go nearly three years without playing at home in the Sinaloan capital and will host Cancún FC, Mineros, Tlaxcala, Atlético Morelia, Tapatío, Alacranes, Cruz Azul Hidalgo, and Piratas in Mazatlán during Apertura 2026.
In addition to the schedule announcement, the black and gold club confirmed the return of Sinaloan native Luis Alberto "El Chuleta" Orozco as the new head coach of the first team. The strategist, originally from Los Mochis, returns to the institution where he previously played as a professional footballer, now with the mission of leading a new sporting project to bring El Gran Pez back to the top of Liga de Expansión MX.
Orozco, 42, has experience both on and off the field. As a player, he played for teams such as Cruz Azul, León, Xolos de Tijuana, Veracruz, Correcaminos, and Dorados itself, while as a coach, he managed Coyotes de Tlaxcala and most recently Pérez Zeledón of the Costa Rican First Division. With the presentation of their new coach and the official Apertura 2026 schedule, Dorados begins a new era with the goal of consolidating a competitive squad and bringing joy to their fans from their new home in Mazatlán.
