Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- Dorados de Sinaloa officially returned to playing a home game on Sinaloan soil after an absence of 1 year and 11 months, and they did so with an exciting 2-2 draw against Mineros de Zacatecas, in a match corresponding to Matchday 3 of the Liga de Expansión MX Apertura 2026 Tournament. A total of 3,150 fans gathered at the El Encanto Stadium in Mazatlán to witness the long-awaited return of the Gran Pez, who snatched the equalizer with goals from Leo Vargas and Jhan Rengifo in the final stretch of the game.

The Zacatecas team took the lead before halftime with a goal from Adrián Villalobos in the 45+4th minute, despite Dorados having generated several dangerous opportunities during the first half. In the second half, the Sinaloan squad maintained the initiative and even missed a penalty in the 55th minute, before Erick Carballo extended the visitors' lead in the 67th minute, making the score 2-0.

When it seemed like the three points would go to Mineros, Dorados reacted with character. Leo Vargas pulled one back with a header in the 82nd minute, while Colombian Jhan Rengifo scored the definitive 2-2 in the 90th minute, unleashing the celebration of the Sinaloan fans. After earning one point in their anticipated return home, the team coached by Luis Orozco will be back in action on August 15th, when they host Coyotes de Tlaxcala in Matchday 4 of the tournament.
