CANELO ALVAREZ VS. CHRISTIAN MBILLI: FIGHT CONFIRMED FOR OCTOBER 31 IN SAUDI ARABIA
The fight between Mexico's Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez and France's Christian Mbilli remains scheduled for Saturday, October 31, 2026, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, according to information released by the organizers. The showdown will take place at The Venue and will be part of the "Mexico vs. the World" event, which will also feature prominent Mexican boxers. Despite reports of a possible change of venue or cancellation due to recent attacks in the region, promoter Turki Alalshikh reiterated that the event is still on.
The bout will feature the World Boxing Council (WBC) super middleweight world championship, currently held by Mbilli, who will seek to defend his title against the experienced Mexican pugilist. Álvarez will come into this bout with a professional record of 63 wins, three losses, and two draws, with 39 victories by knockout. For his part, the French-Cameroonian boxer has 29 wins, 24 of them by knockout, and one draw, figures that anticipate a clash between two fighters with knockout power and top-level experience.
For “Canelo,” the event will mark his return to the ring after the defeat suffered against Terence Crawford in September 2025, a result that cost him the championships he held in the 168-pound division. The Mexican will seek to regain the WBC belt and begin a new chapter in his super middleweight career, while Mbilli will aim to solidify himself as a world champion. The card also includes the participation of stars such as Jaime Munguía and Rafael “Divino” Espinoza, in an evening that will bring together representatives from Mexico and other countries on Saudi soil.
