Brewers Come Back Against Dodgers to Return to the World Series After 44 Years
The Milwaukee Brewers secured their spot in the 2026 World Series after defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-4 in the fourth game of the National League Championship Series, played on October 15th at Dodger Stadium. With this result, they completed a four-game sweep and won the National League title for the first time. The Milwaukee nine had to overcome a 0-4 deficit to complete the comeback and halt Los Angeles' aspirations of winning three consecutive Major League championships.
The Brewers' rally began in the fourth inning when Jake Bauers hit a two-run double. In the fifth inning, David Hamilton drove in another run, and Milwaukee tied the score 4-4 thanks to struggles from the Dodgers' pitching, which issued four walks in that inning. Garrett Mitchell gave the visitors the lead with a solo home run in the sixth inning, while Hamilton sealed the score with another homer in the ninth. Defensively, reliever Aaron Ashby pitched the final three innings without allowing any runs to secure the victory. Milwaukee reached this stage after finishing the regular season with 103 wins, compared to the 100 achieved by the Dodgers.
The ticket represents Milwaukee's return to the Fall Classic after a 44-year absence: their last appearance was in 1982, when they lost the World Series 4-3 to the St. Louis Cardinals. Since then, the franchise had not returned to compete for the title and has not won a World Series championship. Furthermore, the qualification has special significance, as it will be the Brewers' first appearance in this stage as members of the National League, to which they joined in 1998. Now, the team managed by Pat Murphy will seek to win the first title in its history, with the World Series scheduled to begin on October 23rd, while awaiting the American League winner.
