ARMANDO “HORMIGA” GONZÁLEZ ALREADY LOOKS LIKE A NEW OLYMPIACOS PLAYER
Armando “Hormiga” González was officially presented as Olympiacos's new footballer this Saturday, August 22, 2026, in an announcement made by the Greek club during the morning. The Piraeus club thus confirmed the signing of the Mexican forward, who arrives from Chivas de Guadalajara for a deal close to 12 million dollars and will face his first experience in European football at 23 years old.
Olympiacos is one of the most important clubs in Greece and the most decorated in the country. The red-and-white team boasts 48 league championships, 29 Greek Cups, and five Super Cups, in addition to having won the 2023-24 UEFA Conference League, becoming the first Greek club to win a European trophy. For González, however, his new adventure will not include the Champions League this season, as Olympiacos will compete in the 2026-27 Europa League.
The “Hormiga” debut could occur on Sunday, August 30, when Olympiacos visits Asteras Tripolis on the second matchday of the Greek Super League, provided the forward completes his registration, adaptation, and is considered by coach José Luis Mendilibar. González will wear the number 34 jersey, the same number he wore during his time with Chivas and which is linked to his family history and his First Division debut. In this way, the Mexican forward will begin a new chapter in Europe with the possibility of becoming one of the main offensive leaders for the Piraeus club.
