Long before Cristiano Ronaldo, Portugal had a great goalscorer. FIFA even ranked him ninth among the top 50 players of the last century.

We're talking about Eusébio da Silva Ferreira, "the Black Panther." The Mozambique-born goalscorer was known for his incredible speed, individual technique, physical and athletic prowess, and a ferocious right-footed shot that led him to become the all-time top scorer for Portuguese club Benfica with 473 goals.

In 1966, he played in his only World Cup and scored 9 goals in just six matches, guiding Portugal to their best historical result: a third-place finish.

His long career even took him to Mexico in 1976, where he played for Club Monterrey and scored one goal.

He passed away in 2014 at the age of 72.
