RAFA MÁRQUEZ HAS HIS FIRST COMMITMENTS WITH THE MEXICAN NATIONAL TEAM DEFINED

The Mexican National Team will begin a new era under Rafael Márquez command following the conclusion of the 2026 World Cup. The historic former defender will officially take over as the Tricolor's head coach and will have his first commitments during the September FIFA international window, in which the national squad will play a series of friendly matches as part of their preparation for the 2030 World Cup cycle.

According to the information revealed, Mexico will face South American teams in Márquez first commitments. Peru and Colombia are two of the rivals with whom they have a more advanced agreement; they have also considered the national teams of Chile and the United States as opponents. The unprecedented FIFA window will allow the Tricolor to play up to four matches, which will serve for the new strategist to implement his footballing ideas and begin evaluating the players who will be part of the project heading towards the next World Cup.

Rafael Márquez arrives at the national team bench after being part of the coaching staff led by Javier Aguirre during the 2026 World Cup cycle. He will now have the responsibility of leading a new generation of Mexican footballers, with the objective of consolidating a competitive team that aspires to be a protagonist in international competitions in the coming years.
