Venados de Mazatlán Aim for Tenth Crown in LMP. First, See Action in Baja Series.
Venados de Mazatlán seeks its tenth crown, and La Paz will be its starting point. The port city team will participate for the first time in the "Baja Series" and will debut a new manager in Chris Roberson, who had a long career as a Major League player and in Mexican baseball. The eighth edition of the "Baja Series" will be played from September 24 to 27 at the Arturo C. Nahl Stadium. In addition to Venados de Mazatlán, Tomateros de Culiacán, Cañeros de Los Mochis, and Algodoneros de Guasave will also be present. The Mazatlán squad will conclude its preseason with its focus set on the 2026-27 Mexican Pacific League (LMP) campaign. The goal will be to achieve their tenth star, something that has eluded them since their title in the 2015-16 season. "It's our opportunity to get some good competition, as the four teams representing Sinaloa will be there. Playing against professionals will be very helpful for the guys and for our coaching staff," said Jesús Valdez, the sporting director, in a recent interview. Year after year, the Venados de Mazatlán organization holds its preseason in communities near the port; however, this year they will make an exception with their visit to the capital of Baja California Sur. "We know that many people from Sinaloa reside in this part of Baja California Sur, and I think it will be very good for all of them to have the opportunity to see their Venados up close," added the executive from Sinaloa. Results, statistics, and play-by-play can be followed on the sports app TROPHEO for the first time in the history of this important preparation event for the LMP season.
