MEXICAN PACIFIC LEAGUE PRESENTS ITS 2026-2027 SEASON
The president of the Mexican Pacific League (LMP), Salvador Escobar, announced this September 29 in Mexico City a new alliance with Banamex, which joins as a strategic partner and naming partner for the start of the 2026-2027 season. The agreement represents a new commercial and institutional era for the Mexican winter circuit, with the brand's presence across all 10 teams, stadiums, and umpires, in addition to benefits for its clients, including the pre-sale of the 2027 Caribbean Series, which will be hosted in Hermosillo. The League, founded in 1945 as Liga de la Costa del Pacífico and established with its current name since 1970, enters this new campaign as the reigning champion of the Caribbean Series and the Caribbean Series Kids, titles won in 2026.
As part of this transformation, the LMP presented BASE, a strategy that outlines its roadmap towards 2030 and is structured around four pillars: Baseball, Fans, Wisdom, and Evolution. The project includes continuing the modernization of the game through tools such as the strike zone challenge and the pitch clock, as well as creating a Fan Intelligence Center to understand fan habits and interests and generate personalized experiences. It also aims to enhance stadium services for families, young people, and premium audiences, as well as develop content throughout the year through player stories, rivalries, and historical capsules. Commercially, the League will seek to integrate data, content, and results measurement for its sponsors, while also aiming to expand the presence of Mexican winter baseball into the United States.
The alliance with Banamex will also support a process of greater coordination among franchises through common operating standards, with the goal of professionalizing the relationship between the League and its clubs. For the 2026-2027 season, the circuit will consist of 10 teams: Águilas de Mexicali, Naranjeros de Hermosillo, Yaquis de Ciudad Obregón, Mayos de Navojoa, Cañeros de Los Mochis, Algodoneros de Guasave, Tomateros de Culiacán, Venados de Mazatlán, Jaguares de Nayarit, and Charros de Jalisco. Banamex, an institution whose Banco Nacional de México was founded in 1884, enters this new phase with a network of 1,259 branches, 9,137 ATMs, and 13,880 correspondent banking points as of the second quarter of 2026, while the LMP will seek for this collaboration to drive new experiences for its fans and strengthen the reach of Pacific baseball towards 2030.
