Luis Alberto “El Chuleta” Orozco has returned to Dorados de Sinaloa, but this time from the sidelines with the mission to change the recent history of El Gran Pez. The 42-year-old native of Los Mochis knows the institution from the inside, having defended it as a player, and also having played for Cruz Azul, Mérida FC, León, Xolos de Tijuana, Veracruz, and Correcaminos. As a coach, his training included work in youth development and as an assistant coach, before managing Coyotes de Tlaxcala in the Liga de Expansión MX and later Pérez Zeledón in the Costa Rican First Division. His arrival signifies the return of a man identified with the club and with a philosophy based on discipline, intensity, and talent development.

The main difference compared to last season's Dorados lies in their competitive response. El Gran Pez finished the Clausura 2026 in 13th place with 13 points, from three wins, four draws, and seven losses, while in the Apertura 2025 they had finished last with only five points, one win, two draws, and 11 defeats. Under Orozco, the team started the Apertura 2026 with a 2-0 victory over Alebrijes de Oaxaca, followed by 2-2 draws against Mineros de Zacatecas and Coyotes de Tlaxcala; in the latter two matches, they even managed to come back from two-goal deficits, a sign of the character the new coach has sought to instill in the squad.

However, the change is still a work in progress. Orozco has managed to make Dorados competitive and show a capacity for reaction, but he has also publicly acknowledged aspects that need correction, such as the lack of mobility and offensive generation shown against Tlaxcala. This was followed by a 4-2 loss to Venados and then a 0-1 defeat against Morelia, so the challenge will be to transform that attitude into consistency and results. “El Chuleta” now has the task of turning a Dorados team coming off two difficult tournaments into a leading contender, leveraging his knowledge of the institution, his experience as a player, and his international coaching career.
