Dorados de Sinaloa Rescues a Last-Minute Point Against La Jaiba Brava
Dorados de Sinaloa secured an agonizing 1-1 draw against La Jaiba Brava of Tampico Madero at the Estadio Tamaulipas, during matchday 9 of the Apertura 2026 Liga de Expansión MX. The Sinaloan squad had a first half with few opportunities, although they managed to generate danger through the speed of Óscar Coronel, Fernando González, and Leo Vargas, in addition to keeping a clean sheet thanks to the work of their defensive line and midfield.
La Jaiba Brava took the lead in the 49th minute after a penalty. Jesús Ocejo executed the shot, but Sinaloan goalkeeper José Castro managed to save it; however, Ocejo capitalized on the rebound to send the ball into the back of the net, making it 1-0. Dorados struggled to respond to the pressure from the Tampico squad and for several minutes it seemed the home team would take all three points.
As the match entered its final moments, Dorados earned a penalty that Fernando González converted in the 90+4th minute to establish the definitive 1-1 score and rescue a point on the road. With this result, the team coached by Luis Alberto “El Chuleta” Orozco moved up to seventh position in the standings, while on matchday 10 they will return to Mazatlán to host Alacranes de Durango at the Estadio El Encanto.
