UAS School Gymnasts Qualify for Pan American Championships in Brazil

Tepic, Nayarit.- Students from the Autonomous University of Sinaloa gymnastics school have earned a spot in the Aerobic Gymnastics Pan American Championships, which will be held in Brazil in November. This follows their participation in the Official National Aerobic Gymnastics Championship held in Tepic, Nayarit.

Anagallis Peña, the head coach for the Sinaloa team, announced that the athletes who qualified for the continental event are: youth selection students Nathalia García and Romina Valdez.

Also qualifying for the Pan American Games is Bryan Medina, a UAS student pursuing a degree in physiotherapy. Bryan, who trains under Francisco Gallegos of the Borregos club, is working collaboratively to advance the sport of aerobic gymnastics in Sinaloa.

Meanwhile, aerobic gymnastics selection students Hanna Chávez, Danna Partida, and Lia Peraza, who are high school students at UAS in Emiliano Zapata and Flores Magón, participated as part of their preparation for the World Championships in Pamplona, Spain, in September. They will have a preliminary training camp in Mexico City at the end of this month.

Young athletes from the national development selection, aged 9 to 11, also competed. They reached the finals, placing among the top 8 in the country, a significant achievement for those just beginning in the sport.

Overall, the achievements in the Youth category included first place in trio and group events. They also secured second place in aerodance and third and seventh place in the individual women's category.

"We are thrilled with the results; this sport continues to grow in Sinaloa and stands out nationally, now with international projection. A huge thank you to the parents for their support. They deserve all my respect and gratitude for supporting their daughters at all times," stated coach Anagallis, who has 12 years of experience as a UAS coach.

It is also worth noting that UAS instructors Geovanny Ornelas and Obed Aguilar, both from Sinaloa, attended as national judges.
