Sinaloan Steven Arevalo Makes Good Debut for National Team
Chepe Zazueta
Culiacán, Sin.: "We did well. They congratulated me for being a good attacker. There are aspects of the game I need to improve. Because I want to return to the national team." Steven Arevalo, a volleyball player for Águilas UAS, told us via phone, after returning from the U21 Pan American Cup in Guatemala.
For Ulises Ontiveros' protégé, participating in this Pan American Cup, where teams like the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, among others, competed, was his first experience with the national team. This came after winning a gold medal with Águilas UAS at the ANUIES university national championship in Monterrey.
Mexico finished in fourth place as a team. Individually, the native of El Rosario, Sinaloa, shone even though it was his first foray into the national team:
"They congratulated me for being a good attacker. For my grit, the desire I put into the game. However, they also pointed out that I need to improve my reception. We are going to work on that to be considered for the national team again," added the FEFYDE student.
The Águilas UAS indoor volleyball team currently has three national team players: Andrea Félix, Franky Hernández, and now Steven Arevalo.
